Riding down Chapel Street through Yale’s campus, cutting through East Rock, or commuting along the coastal fog off Long Island Sound — New Haven puts real strain on an e-bike. Salt air corrodes contacts. Winter road brine off I-95 and the Wilbur Cross Parkway eats through wiring harnesses and seizes hub motors. Most standard bike shops won’t touch it. They don’t stock parts for direct-to-consumer brands like Rad Power, Aventon, or Lectric, and they don’t have the diagnostic tools to chase down an electrical fault. That leaves riders stranded with a bike nobody will fix.
EMX Bike is different. We handle full-service diagnostic and mechanical repair for every New Haven County commuter — motor torque calibration, wiring harness moisture-sealing, battery system checks, all of it. Whether you’re riding daily from Westville to Downtown or parking at Wooster Square, we keep your e-bike running through everything this city and this coastline throw at it.

Brought my Jaguar here to have full body PPF installed and their work is truly exceptional! The owner Chris was very courteous and Dylan who I worked with during the process was also extremely patient and informative. I went through the entire vehicle after bringing it home and couldn’t not find anything to complain about. Truly a flawless execution. I highly recommend SJ shop for all your needs!

I waited almost a week before writing this comment. The car came out absolutely beautiful. Extremely well done detail. Almost perfect 90%. I had the rims reconditioned. They came out beautiful. I had a flat tire next day. I have no idea where that was because of the rims coming off the car or not I highly recommend the shop. If you want your car detailed professionally, it is pricey that is the only reason it did not receive a five star.

We have been long time customers for detailing, PPF wraps and customizations. Chris and Dylan are true professionals who always make sure that we are 100% satisfied with their work. Highly recommend!

Second time I've trusted a vehicle with them and they didn't disappoint. Their shop is remarkable and they are super efficient and meticulous. PPF and ceramic for my McLaren and it's shining. Highly recommended.

Keep your e-bike running smoothly with professional service and repairs in New Haven, CT. From routine maintenance to expert e-bike tune-ups, we’re here to help.
Every e-bike that comes through our shop gets the same four-step process, no shortcuts.
Step 1: Diagnostic Battery & System Health Scan. We run full voltage testing and BMS checks, then use thermal imaging to catch high-resistance connections or moisture intrusion before they become dead batteries or motor failures.
Step 2: Drivetrain & Motor Torque Calibration. Internal gear inspection, hub motor repacking, chain tensioning, and electronic controller diagnostics — the mechanical and electrical sides, both covered.
Step 3: Weatherization & Corrosion Treatment. We apply dielectric grease to terminal pins and anti-corrosive sealant across exposed components, built specifically to hold up against New Haven’s road salt and coastal moisture.
Step 4: Safety-Critical Brake & Wheel Overhaul. Hydraulic disc brakes get upgraded and trued, heavy-duty spokes go in where needed — built for the extra mass and speed of Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes.
You get a bike that’s mechanically sound and electrically protected. Not just patched up.
Rad Power RadCity Commuter : Downtown to East Rock. A Yale staff commuter’s battery contacts had corroded from a winter of I-95 road salt. We rebuilt the battery cradle connection, applied dielectric grease, and ran a full BMS diagnostic. Bike’s back on the road, zero voltage drops.
Aventon Level.2 Westville to Wooster Square: Recurring “motor error” codes turned out to be moisture intrusion in the controller housing from coastal fog off Long Island Sound. We resealed the housing, recalibrated motor torque, and confirmed the bike stayed within CT’s 750W legal limit.
