Riding along Long Island Sound comes with a cost. Salt mist off the water and heavy coastal humidity work fast on an e-bike. Commute down Boston Post Road or cruise the shoreline, and that salt air gets into places you can’t see — motor seals, battery terminals, wiring harnesses. Left unchecked, it means corroded connectors, shorted electronics, and batteries that die years before they should.
EMX Bike runs full diagnostics built for high-torque electric motors, not just chain and gear checks. We test voltage drop, terminal corrosion, and controller integrity — the stuff a standard bike shop skips. Every 750W motor we service meets Connecticut’s e-bike regulatory limits, so you’re riding legal and safe.
Madison residents don’t have time to wait around. We turn most repairs quickly, whether you’re getting ready for a beach run or just keeping your daily commute reliable. If you own an e-bike on the shoreline, salt air is already working against you. We’re built to work against it right back.

Brought my Jaguar here to have full body PPF installed and their work is truly exceptional! The owner Chris was very courteous and Dylan who I worked with during the process was also extremely patient and informative. I went through the entire vehicle after bringing it home and couldn’t not find anything to complain about. Truly a flawless execution. I highly recommend SJ shop for all your needs!

I waited almost a week before writing this comment. The car came out absolutely beautiful. Extremely well done detail. Almost perfect 90%. I had the rims reconditioned. They came out beautiful. I had a flat tire next day. I have no idea where that was because of the rims coming off the car or not I highly recommend the shop. If you want your car detailed professionally, it is pricey that is the only reason it did not receive a five star.

We have been long time customers for detailing, PPF wraps and customizations. Chris and Dylan are true professionals who always make sure that we are 100% satisfied with their work. Highly recommend!

Second time I've trusted a vehicle with them and they didn't disappoint. Their shop is remarkable and they are super efficient and meticulous. PPF and ceramic for my McLaren and it's shining. Highly recommended.

We don’t guess. Every e-bike that comes through our shop follows the same four-step process, whether it’s a direct-to-consumer brand or a name-brand model.
Step 1: Multi-Point Electrical & Battery Diagnostic:
We test voltage drop, check terminal pins for corrosion, verify motor controller integrity, and inspect wiring loom insulation for salt damage. This catches electrical issues before they become dead batteries or shorted motors.
Step 2: High-Torque Mechanical Systems Inspection:
We adjust hydraulic disc brakes, check rotor wear, and true wheels built to handle heavier e-bike frames. High-torque motors put more stress on brakes and wheels than a standard bicycle, so we inspect accordingly.
Step 3: Marine-Grade Drivetrain Cleaning & Rustproofing:
We degrease sand and salt buildup off the chain and cassette, then apply anti-corrosive lubricants engineered for coastal environments — not generic bike lube that breaks down in humidity.
Step 4: Road Test & Safety Calibration: Every bike gets a real-world test ride to confirm pedal-assist engages smoothly and safely before we hand it back.
Four steps. No shortcuts. That’s how we keep Madison e-bikes running.
A Boston Post Road commuter brought in his e-bike after months of salt exposure riding between Madison and Guilford. Terminal corrosion was cutting power intermittently. We cleaned and resealed the battery bay, replaced corroded connectors, and rustproofed the drivetrain. He’s back to a reliable daily commute.
A Hammonasset Beach regular noticed his brakes fading on the crushed-stone sections of the Shoreline Greenway Trail. We serviced his hydraulic disc brakes, cleared sand from the sensor magnets, and rustproofed the chain after a summer of beach rides. He’s ready for another season on the trail.

Yes. We run full electrical diagnostics on direct-to-consumer brands, not just mechanical work — voltage, terminals, controllers, and wiring.
Rinse after coastal rides, store in a dry spot, and get connectors inspected each season before humidity sets in.
Yes. Every 750W motor we service is checked against Connecticut’s e-bike speed and power regulations for full compliance.
Early fall, right after Hammonasset traffic slows. It catches summer salt and sand buildup before winter storage.
Yes. Coastal humidity alone corrodes terminals and hardware over time, even for bikes ridden mainly on Route 1.
